hey pplz!!!!!  Glad to see shit working out great. I was thinking about making TRH a gaming community like fileplanet type thing. it's easy to remember and sounds like one too hehe. anyways, great job on keeping up with the news posts and grats to those who are new admins or promotions. I'd like to mention that I found the date I created TRH, Aug. 30th 2008 so I'd like to get something together this Aug. 30th for a 2yr  celebration if you all would like.... we'll have a great time on all servers. We'll get a funny theme going Wink but keep your pants on! see you on the servers soon! Smiley

with LOVE,

TRH Admin News!

Jan 12 2010 | written by bug | 542 Views | 18 Replies
In the spirit of finishing last year's projects, we'd like to finally (and officially) resolve that dramatic event of July 2009: the TRH admin trials. A big thank you to all of you who stuck through the trials experience with us!

After intermittent but thorough admin discussions over the past months, we'd like to welcome Klemma as our new Admin! We were all really impressed with his cheerful attitude, his feedback on our community update, and his handling of some messy admin situations. Congrats, Klemma! That said, we appreciate Grains and pui too much to let you go, so we hope you'll stick with us as our Junior Admins! We're excited to get to work with all of you. Smiley

On behalf of bug, enigma, and Pelican: we've been needing an extra set of hands lately for server troubleshooting and plugin maintenance, and as you all know from his work with the TOotH server and TRH3, Munch definitely knows his stuff. (Plus who doesn't love Munch?!) So please congratulate Munch on his promotion to Head Admin! I'm really looking forward to his help. And Munch, I apologize in advance for all the unglamorous work this might entail...

On a related note, all of the Senior Admins now have access to restart TRH1 and TRH2, so please don't hesitate to contact them if the server goes down or needs an update. They are really the face of TRH in Vent and in-game, while I just tinker with things behind the scenes. None of this would be possible without the time they spend keeping an eye on things on the server and over HLSW! <3

Related -- the latest TF2 update broke the ability of servers running on linux (like ours) to reconnect to Steam after a disconnect. So let us know any time your loadout isn't available because the servers will probably need a restart.

Smooches,
bug Wink

Also, to catch up on the results of the last major TF2 update -- kudos to those of you who put in the time to support your favorite TF2 class! These players contributed the most kills to the War as it played out on TRH:

January 6 Update

Jan 06 2010 | written by bug | 353 Views | 11 Replies
The first TF2 update of 2010 rolled out this afternoon, mostly Bot updates, bugfixes, and minor weapons changes. What did you think? Here's the list:

Server Browser (for TF2 and DoD:S)
 - Added a client-side server blacklist:
     - Supports blacklisting of specific servers, all servers on an IP, and all servers on a class C range.
     - Saves the server list to a file, and has an Import button to allow easy sharing (cfg\server_blacklist.txt)
I like to think this is so we can start blacklisting those evil servers with fake player counts...

Balance changes:
 - Reduced the health penalty on The Sandman.
 - The Force-A-Nature knockback on target now:
      - Only applies to hits that deal more than 30 damage and are in close range.
      - Factors in the firer's angle of attack when determining the knockback direction.
      - Has less of an effect on grounded targets.
 - The Dead Ringer now:
      - Reduces cloak to 40% when uncloaking early.
      - Has a 35% cap on the amount of cloak it can gain from an ammo pack.
      - Has a quieter de-cloak sound.
I imagine not everyone's going to be happy about these changes. Scouts, do you notice a big difference? And those of you who play Spy -- is the quieter de-cloak sound a good worth the cloak limitations?

Changes / Fixes:
 - Fixed a performance & stability issue with AMD processors.
 - Improved the stability of the game server -> item backend connection.
 - Fixed a rare server crash related to dispensers.
 - Added min/max values to viewmodel_fov convar to match the settings in the slider.
 - Reduced the number of moons in ctf_doublecross, sadly.
 - Demo playback now ignores sv_pure settings, allowing demos to easily contain custom content.
 - Fixed a crash related to sv_pure and the wireframe_dx6 shader.
 - Players can no longer shoot while stunned.
 - Fixed a bug that caused movement speed reductions to not work on stunned players.
 - Soldier Rage bar no longer resets when touching a resupply cabinet.
I've still never managed to fill the Rage meter so I doubt I'll see much of a difference, but for all of you whose Buff Banners I happily run to, I'm really glad! Cheesy (And how many moons did ctf_doublecross have, anyway?)

Achievement fixes:
 - Fixed the "Second Eye" Demoman achievement.
 - Fixed a bug in the "Play Doctor" Medic achievement.
 - Changed the requirements for the "Medals of Honor" Soldier achievement.
 - Updated description for the "Blind Fire" Demoman achievement to better explain the requirements.
 - Fixed an issue that affected several achievements requiring the use of the Equalizer.
I thought the achievement they might fix was Chargin' Targe... we've only had 12 kills with thing on TRH, ever Sad
Stats, by the way, are updated to display all the new weapons:
http://www.trhservers.com/hlstatsx/hlstats.php?mode=weapons&game=tf

There are also a bunch of new award types, including most Buff Banners deployed, cart escorts, charged Medics killed, stolen Sandviches, and kills with flaming arrows.
http://www.trhservers.com/hlstatsx/hlstats.php?mode=awards&game=tf
(And if you're wondering why we no longer track Most Sandviches Eaten, it apparently places too much stress on the stats database.)

Community requests:
 - Added "skip_next_map" server ConCommand to skip the next map in the map cycle.
 - Added "Play a hit sound whenever you injure an enemy" option to the Multiplayer->Advanced options menu.
 - Added server "tf_use_fixedshotgunspreads" convar. When set, shotgun & scattergun pellet spreads will use a non-random distribution.
 - Added a "show_htmlpage" command to allow server operators to display custom web pages to clients.
skip_next_map koth_harvest_final
This map is so unloved that we've taken it out of rotation on TRH1. It's still available in your nominations list though. More to come about maps in the next couple days.

Changes to the TF Bots:
 - In KOTH mode, Bots are now:
      - More likely to roam around and hunt enemies if there is lots of time left.
      - Become more likely to push for the point as time runs down, or their teammates start to capture ...... Read More

We hope you like it!

I admit it took me ages to get used to the new forum theme (I didn't like using it at first) so please allow yourself a little time to adjust. And someone please offer Maijclue a paper bag. Wink

All the functionality you're accustomed to is still here -- or should be soon after a little tweaking on our part. The site is still a work in progress, but let us know if you run into anything seriously broken.

I have to beg one of you to make a list of changes you notice (so I can run off to work) and we have a few more to deliver in the next couple days, so stay tuned!

Happy TRH Update!
