It's the time that rolls around twice a year -- time for our 6-month funding drive, PBS-style!
We've made it this far thanks to your generous November donations and a few kind donations this spring. A big thank you to everyone who chipped in to keep us going! Our expenses are about $30 a month, and any donations go exclusively to cover TRH1, our website/forum, and Vent.
Please help us out, so we can pay our next bills!

Please welcome our new Junior Admin, Ice, and our new Server Moderators, Cypress and Peace!
These three are longstanding, well-loved members of our community and and we're thrilled to have them on board.
There are a lot of community issues we'd like to address and I know many of you have concerns about recent community trends too. We hope having some new faces on our server moderation crew will be a good start. Some of our less active admins have been moved to 'On Hiatus' status -- they'll resume their roles as admins and moderators once their lives become a little less exciting and they have time to spend with us again.

Server Lag

Munch, vi0, and I got multiple reports of server lag on TRH1 and TRH2 last night. Ice described it "every 1-2 seconds we would have a small lag-hitch of about 1 millisecond where we'd freeze and then keep going. It's still playable but very irritating. Ping doesn't go up; it happens that fast."
I suspect it was a network problem at Gameserver's data center in Dallas, because these two servers are on different accounts, are running different versions of Sourcemod, and have different plugin sets, so I doubt it has anything to do with the server configuration. Not to mention we hadn't changed anything (that I know of) in the two days before this lag.
I put in a ticket with Gameservers just in case. They replied this afternoon:

I don't see anything in my data that shows an issue, but, it is possible it was just not visible in the data we have.
If this persists, please let us know. At the moment, all look well.
Also, if it persists, please submit a traceroute, so we can see the state of the network during your issue.

We hope this problem is gone after Munch kindly restarted the server, like some of you mentioned. It may have been related to these unannounced updates from Valve:
Updating 'Team Fortress 2 Content' from version 152 to version 154
Updating 'Team Fortress 2 Materials' from version 61 to version 62
Updating 'OB Linux Dedicated Server' from version 39 to version 41

Updating 'OB Linux Dedicated Server' from version 39 to version 41
Please let us know if you are still experiencing any lag though and if so, what time of day it happened, what your ping was like, etc. Server lag is something we definitely don't want you to have to put up with!

TRH Micspam Community Control System (Draft 1):
- Regular sound clips that are UNDER 15 seconds will be unregulated by this plugin
- Anything that is detected to be OVER 15 seconds will immediately trigger a vote, this vote will be "Do you want <name> to continue this clip?" "Yes" "No"
The two voting options will NOT be mapped to ANY weapons selection keys.Maybe not in THIS release.- Should the majority vote no the player will be blocked from using micspam, but not voice chat, for a certain amount of time
- The first time micspam will be blocked for 2 minutes, Second time will be 5 minutes, Third offense in one map will get you blacklisted.
- Votemute will be entirely rescripted so that when x% of players request it it will send a server-wide vote (Again not mapped to weapon selection keys) whether this person should be voted or not
- On top of this we will add a "Blacklist" that will automatically block certain individuals from mic spamming due to previous misuse.
The header seemed to dissapear, but this topic was moved by Munch and Bug who helped come up with the ideas and the main support. (If I accidentally your comment I'm sorry my computer acts weird in forum posts sometimes)
