Bioware is probably the most deserving game developer of all these days.  For shame.

If you want to play it so badly you're willing to download it illegally before it's out, that probably means something.

Honestly, it's good enough I might buy it anyway.

So different from the first one.

I'm a little too flabbergasted to enjoy what is otherwise a great game.

Less than an hour into the game, and Fankie Shepherd has already made a lesbian pass that was received with interest. Also...

Agreed. The major change that I dislike is the switch from weapon overheating to having to pick up ammo. Overheating was both a perfectly acceptable gameplay mechanic and having to hunt down clips after battle is making me gripe "Man, I thought I lived in the future. What's this hunting for ammo bullshit?" Also I don't think I care much for how weapons are handled now as opposed to the first one. I like the change they made to how armor is set up, though, especially given that there were some armors in the first one that were absolutely hideous, but now I can fiddle with colors and such to make it look however I want. YES, FANKIE SHEPHERD IS A SPACE FASHIONISTA. I hope researching things is fun, but so far I don't have the dude recruited to let me do it yet. Overall, I'd say it's a net loss, but I still can't wait until I get home today to play some more. I hope the amount of stuff that carries over from the first one is as deep as I was led to believe (ie, not just the big stuff that I've noticed so far, but also smaller stuff as well).

So, uh, this thread kinda died after my last post. I finished it recently, going back and doing another run on Insanity with man-Shep. Tali, Miranda, and Jack, prepare for sexin'. Any more thoughts from everyone now that they've had a chance to actually play the game?

I loved it. Honestly, whatever weird quirks it had, I could forgive them all for giving me such a damn fun experience with a great narrative.

What class did you use? Infiltrator is the business with that sniper zoom slowdown effect. I can see it easily carrying my insanity playthrough.

I'm gonna use my Infiltrator again for Insanity. Only 300 XP away from level 30, too. The first play through I was a Vanguard, though. Also pretty fun.

Played through once as Soldier, starting my next as Adept. Third will probably be Infiltrator and from there I will decide which class I'm going to do Insanity with.

Not gunna lie, to many little things about this game piss me off.  Super long load times, poor variety in weapons/powers, no variety in armor, pain in the ass methods for upgrading things, ridiculous way of collecting money.  The only positive to this game is the voice acting and story, but i can hardly play through the bullshit of the little problems to finish the game.

That's weird. The first time I tried to play through ME1, I played soldier, thought it was meh. I gave up six hours through 'cause I had been playing for six hours and hadn't gotten any alien tail. Recently, picked it up again and played through as an Adept, LOVED IT. Just started a new playthrough as Infiltrator, then I read this topic. WEIRD.
Also, I'd suggest being a biotic on harder difficulties. I just spent an hour trying to finish the "Rescue Liara" mission, don't try that without any disabling or serious offensive abilities. Krogan don't take kindly to being debuffed. They rush you and kick your ass.

You're talking about ME1, where everything but Soldier is terrible. The ME2 classes are all capable, so far Infiltrator is the only class I can solo Heavy Mechs with on hardcore.

On another note, I gave up on adept. I don't see the point of damaging people down past their shields and armor, just so I can pull the person and not have enough time to warp them because Grunt wants to take my kill.

Get pull field. Cheesy  Pull multiple enemies in the air, 3 second recharge, then warp for a nice boom.

On the harder difficulties, you'll want something that lets you deal with the three kinds of defenses - barriers, shields, and armor. The infiltrator class is fantastic for this because it gives you SMGs and disruptor ammo for shields and sniper rifles and Incinerate for armor. Once you beat the game you can choose an extra skill based on the loyalty skills you had unlocked, as well as a 25% experience bonus. This will allow you to choose Reave or Warp Ammo to deal with barriers. Warp ammo is, in my opinion, the better choice, especially once you can upgrade it to the squad version, because it gives extra damage versus armor and health in addition to barriers, and is always active. Fun fact: You can use the squad version, then switch to a different ammo type, and your squadmates will still have it. Also the cloak, while admittedly underwhelming on difficulties where you don't get shot to bits in two seconds, is an absolute lifesaver on insanity. Plus the sniper zoom thing. That's pretty good, too, and by pretty good I mean just as fucking amazing as everything else I just mentioned.

And Mindstormy, I had similar gripes, but then I realized something about ME1: 99% of the armor I got was garbage. 99% of the guns I got were garbage. And I'd rarely use more than a handful of my skills. Variety is great and all, but when most of my options suck, I'm perfectly fine with them paring down my choices to several decent options. I mean, would you rather have to choose one from a set of three, or go sorting through a hundred things to find the one thing you'd actually consider using?
